The Annual Meeting of the Friends is held in March, when changes to the by-laws are proposed and officers are elected for the coming year. The officers also have a business meeting on the second Monday in January, March, May, July, September, and November. All members are encouraged to attend. Members who have attended three out of the last six meetings are entitled to the same vote on business conducted as an elected officer.

MINUTES
September 12, 2011
President Carolyn Beanblossom presided over the meeting held in the Blaine Wiseman Conference Room of the Harrison County Public Library. Attending were: President Beanblossom, Vice President Marian Allen, Treasurer Genarose Turner, Asst. Treasurer Christine Pendleton, Sue Haake King, Dan Bays, Cindy Daily, Diane Miller, and Alisa Burch.
I. Minutes: The minutes from the July 11, 2011 meeting were distributed previously for review. Upon motion by Christine Pendleton, second by Marian Allen, the minutes were approved as distributed.
II. Treasurer’s Report: Genarose presented the treasurer’s report. Book bags were purchased from Best Containers.
The F.O.I.L. (Friends of Indiana Libraries) membership renewal was approved. The cost for 2012 was $45.
III. Book Box News: In October, mysteries will be ½ price and in November Health, Diet, and Fitness, and Cookbooks will be ½ price.
Christine has been straightening the Bookbox and donating some of the excess books to Goodwill. Bonnie Schmelz has been helping on this project. Christine reported a large amount of sewing books had been donated to the Bookbox. She would like to place an extra Bookbox key in the cashbox to ease access to the building. Christine has also created a Bookbox gift basket to be given away during Corydon’s Unsavory Past on October 7th. The basket will contain historical books, mugs, and cocoa or coffee. Carolyn voiced a concern about some customers wanting discounts on books purchased at the Bookbox. Members agreed there are to be no future discounts since the books are already priced at such a low price. .
IV. New Branch Library News:
The Elizabeth branch is close to being framed, a wage hearing is pending, and the parking lot has been paved.
V. Book signings/Library News:
Sue reported on activities from the Harrison County Fair Booth, July 25-30. 607 entries were submitted for the gift basket drawing. Ronald Cline won the drawing. Persons who helped at the booth were Carla Adkins, Ann Crecelius, Nikki Esarey, Kathy Fisher, Christine Pendleton, and Jennifer Self. Gary Voyles helped with the setup. Some upcoming activities include Peggy DeKay, author of Self-Publishing for Virgins, who will discuss self-publishing at the Quills and Quibble meeting November 16th from 6 to 8 p.m.
VII. New Business
In Alisa passed around the Summer Reading Program figures and children activity calendars for the rest of 2011. 90 more children were registered for the SRP over last year. Donations spent on the SRP included $949.07 from the Friends, $1,000 from Wal-Mart, and $500 from Dollar General.
A group of library employees will be raising money to fight breast cancer on October 22 in the “Treasure Your Chest” walk.
Upon a motion by Dan Bays, seconded by Christine Pendleton, it was unanimously approved to adjourn at 7:50 PM
